In an “Esquire” magazine article, TV journalist Ted Koppel made some negative comments about modern day heroes:
“We are creating a lot of false idols in this society,” he said. “It troubles me about our society. There have been cultures, and perhaps there still are somewhere in the world, in which philosophers and poets and great teachers are the stars of their civilization.
