A great deal has been said in recent years about Christians who have received the gift of tongues. Many good things can come from this gift that is given to some Christians. A great deal more should be said about Christians who have received the gift of ears because, while the gift of tongues is given to some Christians, the gift of ears is given to all Christians.
In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus is asked which of all the more than six hundred Commandments in the Jewish Law is the first and greatest. Jesus’ response begins with a verse from the Old Testament Book of Deuteronomy: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!
