It has been said that there are three levels of life, each with its own predictable results. On the lowest level you repay good with evil. This is the demonic level. On the next level, you repay good with good and evil with evil. This is the legalistic level. On the highest level, you repay evil with good. This is the Christian level. The results are as follows:
If you repay good with evil then you become evil and eventually perish as an evildoer.
If you repay good with good and evil with evil, then you are an eye-for-an-eye and a tooth-for-a-tooth person. This means that your conduct is determined by what others do; that you have no moral code or standard of your own; that you are merely an echo.
