In a poem by William Butler Yeats, based on an old Irish story, a man is running “full speed ahead”. He’s running so fast that he is little more than a blur. And as he runs, he tosses aside many of the material things that everyone else is eager to possess. He gets rid of everything that might keep him from reaching the goal he is furiously pursuing.
