If our encounter with God is honest and authentic it will make a difference in the way we live. It will make a difference in the kind of people we are. We cannot genuinely encounter God’s Grace through Jesus Christ and still go on in the same self-centered, insensitive, dishonest, unloving way. There will be a change. Otherwise, the religious experience itself is violated and contradicted. In other words, it is “phony.”
Jesus preached Gospel, Good News, about God’s love and the Reign of God. But, Jesus said time and again and in many different ways that persons who are living under the Reign of God are recognizable by the fruit of their lives. By Jesus’ standards your Christian Faith is not genuine unless it shows in the life you live.
