In today’s Gospel Lesson, on the eve of His execution, Jesus is engaged in formal prayer to the Fahter. Again and again, the new Testament writers make the point that praying to the Father in this manner was part of Jesus’ lifestyle.
And, again and again, the New Testament writers make the point that Jesus taught His disciples to make formal prayer to the Father part of their lifestyles:
And he said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come'” (Lk. 11:2).
But when you pray, go into you room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret (Mt. 6:6).
And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith (Mt. 21:22).
