Good morning girls and boys. Happy New Year! Today is the day many people make their “New Year’s Resolutions.” They pledge that they will make some big change in their lives beginning on the first day of the New Year. Many people will decide to stop some bad habit like cigarette smoking. Others may pledge to go on a diet and lose some weight. Some will promise to start exercising. Making resolutions is one of our New Year’s day traditions. Another tradition is to bang pots and pans at the stroke of midnight to ring in the New Year. And many people eat certain foods for their New Year’s dinner, and maybe your family is among them.

Did you know that the people in Rome Italy have a very long tradition off honoring the New Year? They have a big celebration and they do something that is very interesting. They throw things out of their windows. You heard right, boys and…
