What does Jesus tell us about Eternal Life?

One of the things tourists in New England often do is visit some of the eighteenth-century churchyard cemeteries. The people who cut the gravestones knew that many would see them because strolling through the cemetery on a Sunday afternoon was one of the customs of the time. Consequently, a great deal of effort went into inscribing the epitaphs on the gravestones. The most common epitaph used was imported from Europe and translated into these words:

Behold and see as you pass by,
as you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you will be.
Prepare for death and follow me.

Underneath one, someone wrote:

 To follow you, I’m not content,
Until I learn of where you went.
