The most dangerous betrayals come from within
There’s a story about Jesus arriving at the gates of hell. Satan is furious. He moves to block the way, but Jesus cannot be stopped. He tears the gates from their hinges and begins a relentless search, sweeping through every dark and broken corner of the devil’s domain. One by one, He sets the captives free.
But it’s clear He has come for someone in particular.
Deeper and deeper He goes, until at last, far beyond the reach of the others, in a place of utter isolation, He finds a soul locked away alone. As Jesus approaches the cage, Satan cries out:
“No! Not that one! That one is my prized possession!”
But Jesus says nothing. He simply breaks open the door and sets the prisoner free.
The name of the prisoner?
Judas.
And if Judas is not beyond His reach, who among us could be? -1
