The Undeniable and Transformative Gospel Truth
The idea of truth is neutral. We wrap it in symbols, discuss it in seminars, and applaud it in songs. Yet, it remains at arm’s length. The experience of truth, on the other hand, is visceral and undeniable. It can shatter dreams or fuel accomplishments, but there is nothing distant about it. It is immediate and life changing.
Sir Edward Elgar, the English composer whose life spanned the 19th and 20th centuries, once auditioned a singer whose voice was technically flawless but lacked emotion. “She will be great,” he observed, “when something breaks her.”
To know truth firsthand — whether it comes wrapped in sorrow or joy — is to know change. Life shifts, and it is never quite the same again.
