A number of years ago a group of theologians made front page news when they announced the Death of God. Some years later the New York Times ran an article which chronicled the career of the leader of the Death of God movement. This time the article didn’t make the front page. Rather, it appeared on the obituary page, announcing the death of the theologian.

Most of us probably remember being asked at a funeral service, Are you going to the cemetery? Everyone should remember that the correct answer is never a flat No! Sooner or later, we all are going to the cemetery.

Yes, I am going to the cemetery. You are going to the cemetery, and every person you love is going to the cemetery. But the cemetery is not the end. Death never has the last word.

Death shall never have the last word because the Lord God Almighty has conquered death itself through our Lord Jesus Christ.
