Money is not required to buy a single necessity of the soul
The late American humorist Art Buchwald once said, “The best things in life aren’t things.”
Then there was an economics professor who began each new course with the sentence, “The unique thing about money is its absolute worthlessness.”
During the Great Depression, many people gave personal testimonies that they had not begun to discover what life was all about until they lost their fortunes and had to begin again. As strange as it may sound, the stripping away of security allowed something new and more meaningful to emerge.
Jesus says, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”
So why is our age so deeply immersed in materialism? Why is our society seemingly more interested in the things money can buy than in the values money cannot? Why has Christian faith been distorted by those who…
