An elementary school teacher was telling her class about statistics which indicate that more twins are being born these days than in the past. “Why?” asked a little boy. “Because,” answered a little girl, “little children are afraid to come into the world alone.”
That is a very insightful comment. The fact of the matter is that children are afraid to come into the world alone, and this is why God has a family waiting for them. And as they move through their formative years, the gifts of love and nurture and security that are provided in the immediate family are very important to them.
“God is a saving God for us” (Ps. 68:21). In that one phrase, the Psalmist picks up the theme of the whole Bible; the God who created us is a saving God. He wants us to be whole persons. And he provides many ways for us to respond to His saving grace and enter into His abundant life.…
