THE CANAL VINDICATION
The next time you’re being bombarded with criticism, remember Col. George Washington Goethals, the man who successfully completed the Panama Canal. He had problems enough with the geography and climate involved, yet he still had to endure the carping criticism of many busybodies back home who constantly kept predicting that he would never complete the project. But he steadfastly stuck to the task and said nothing. “Aren’t you going to answer these critics?” an associate asked. “In time,” Goethals replied. “How?” “With the canal,” Goethals said.
