UNHEALTHY SOLDIERS
In the annals of ancient Greek history was a soldier who faithfully served under Antigonus. This soldier had a chronic disease that caused him great pain and threatened his life. His only relief from the pain of his disease was to devote himself to warfare. He was a gallant warrior who was fearless in battle. He faced death in battle with no fear, for without the battle he was reduced to great pain and the continuing thought of a miserable death. Antigonus was so impressed with this soldier that he enlisted the services of a renowned physician to find a cure for the soldier. A cure was found, and the soldier was healed. Suddenly, the soldier’s meaningless life was filled with meaning and hope. He had reason to live. He was no longer a good soldier. He was now so in love with life that he was afraid to die.
