AROUND THE CONFERENCES
Members of the Selma (Iowa) UMC uncovered $24,548 in a newly acquired lot adjacent to the church. Volunteers were clearing the bulldozed lot, which the church had obtained for payment of back taxes. Travis Jarr, 14, spotted a roll of bills. Further searching uncovered another roll. It took several more searches to uncover the sum. Church member learned they must wait one year to allow a claim to be filed and the money identified by the owners. Then, the church could claim the entire sum, of which half would probably go to missions, said member Karen Greene.
