AN INFUSION OF COURAGE
It was late in the evening. At the end of a long, busy day I felt almost too tired to make my last pastoral visit. An elderly lady answered the door. I had not realized that she was one of the shut-ins of my new congregation or I would have called at an earlier hour. I decided that it would be a taxing visit and I wondered if I should have the energy to be of any help as a pastor. I need not have worried. The old lady put me at my ease. She seemed serene and contented. She smiled beautifully and spoke in a soft, soothing voice. I began to feel less tense and tired as I knew myself to be in the presence of a calm and radiant faith.
