THE BROKEN BOAT BOLT
I recall one time when we still lived at Carlsbad, I had a small boat, a run-about with a 40 horsepower motor, which was quickly wearing out. It was our first ski and fishing boat. I decided I wanted another boat, but the $4,000 to $5,000 price tag on the new ones was more than I could handle. So I started looking at used boats for sale in the area. A friend of mine had a 17 foot run-about with a big 150 Mercury on it. It was a good ski boat and he wanted $1,200 for it. I looked with longing eyes at the used boat, while my boys jumped up and down. I considered it for several days. While I was considering this opportunity, a friend of our’s had the money, and bought it, right from under my nose. Was I ever bent out of shape!
