Tim and Jenny, both in their seventies, had just gotten married. One day after dinner, Jenny took a bottle of pills from her purse and popped one with a glass of water. Seeing this, Tim said, “You didn’t tell me you are on medication.”
“I’m not,” Jenny replied, “these are a special formulation of vitamins and Chinese herbs to make me feel young again.” Intrigued, Tim decided to give the miracle pills a try.
The following day when Jenny awakened, Tim was nowhere to be found. After searching every room in the house, Jenny opened the front door and saw Tim sitting at the curb in tears. “What’s wrong dear?” Jenny asked anxiously. Tim cried out, “I missed the school bus!”
The inescapable facts of life include the experience of human suffering. Our gathering together is not an escape from this reality. We are here today, keenly aware of our joys and our sorrows. We cannot deny the presence of trials and tribulations…
