Children’s Sunday Sermon

Good morning, boys and girls. There is a passage in the Bible that I want to share with you today. Some people have called it the best-loved words in the Bible, and this is what it says:

God gave us His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not be lost but have eternal life. So, what does this mean, boys and girls?

First, God loves us so much that He sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, to minister to us — to do the work of God here on earth. And remember, one of the most important things He was sent here to do was to tell us how much God loves us and that we are also expected to do God’s work and love one another.

So, God sent His Son Jesus here to tell us this. Now comes the next part: If we believe in Him, we will have eternal life. What does this mean? Well, boys and girls, there is another part of the Bible where Jesus Himself explains what it means to have eternal life. He says,

Eternal life is this: to be with God.

Boys and girls, isn’t that great? Isn’t that simple? If we believe in God and the message that He sent His Son, Jesus, to tell us, then God is with us — watching over each one of us wherever we go.

Have you ever noticed what happens when you put two magnets close together? They will attract each other, won’t they? And if you pull them apart, you can feel the pull that each magnet has on the other. Maybe some of you have your school picture at home on your refrigerator, that is held on tight by a magnet. The magnet has such a strong grip that it won’t let your picture fall. The Love of God, the promise of eternal life, is like a magnet because it draws all the children of God together. It is strong, and it holds tight, and it will never let us go. Isn’t that Good News, boys and girls?
