MINOR DISCREPENCIES
Recently I read about a reunion of those involved in the formation of the old American football league. The veterans and the owners swapped stories and enjoyed an evening of laughs and reflections together. Al Davis, currently the owner of the Los Angeles Raiders remembers that those sitting at his table stared with envy at Nicky Hilton, who was to speak that evening in 1959. Nicky Hilton was introduced as having recently made $100,000 in the baseball business in Los Angeles. Mr. Hilton stepped to the microphone and said he needed to correct what had been said. It was not he who had that experience, it was his brother Baron. And it wasn’t Los Angeles, but San Diego. And it wasn’t baseball, it was football. And it wasn’t $100,000, it was a million dollars… and he didn’t make it, he lost it!
