What is the really beautiful time in life? Is it the innocent “growing up” period? Is it the adventurous teenage period? Is it the period of achievement and family-raising? Is it middle-age or old-age? The really beautiful time of life is when we no longer condemn, but have compassion. The really beautiful time in life is when we have come down from the judge’s bench, and are a friend at court. The really beautiful time in life is when we have discovered that human hearts do not need judgment, but help. Once we criticized, now we see the need to understand. Once we were close to the devil, dealing out damnation left and right, dividing sheep from goats with a thorny stick, separating heroes and villains. Now, we are close to God who knows only mercy, forgiveness and love. When we are close to God: that is the really beautiful time in life.
