There appeared in the “Arts and Leisure” section of the “New York Times,” a lengthy article on the growing “signs of a new spirituality in the arts.” The article speaks of the “religious essence” of Director Stanley Kramer’s film, “The Runner Stumbles.” Mr. Kramer himself describes the film as “an examination of commitment.” He says, “I took the strongest commitment I could think of-a priest’s and a nun’s devotion to God-in a day when there is so little commitment, whether to an ideal, to a way of life or even to a marriage. And then I challenged their commitment. The film doesn’t answer any questions, but it asks: “What kind of God are You? What do You want from me?”
