In their twenty-five years of marriage, hardly a night went by when the wife didn’t awaken her husband because she thought she heard an intruder in the house. The husband would dutifully search the house, report to his wife that he had found no one, and go back to sleep. One night the wife awakened him and whispered, “There is someone downstairs. Go and look.” As was his custom, the husband got up to look. But this time, he found himself face-to-face with a burglar standing at the foot of the stairs. The husband shook the burglar’s hand and said, “Ah, at last! Before you do anything else, please come up and meet my wife. She’s been looking for you for twenty-five years.”
