CELEBRATE
In an episode of the comic strip Hagar The Horrible, Hagar’s wife, Helga, is shown cleaning the floor with a mop and pail. She says to herself, “The house does look nice and shiny.” As she digs up some flowers outside, she says, “Flowers for the table might be nice.” As she is setting the table, Hagar asks, “When does the party start?” Helga answers, “In a few minutes, dear.” Helga’s daughter comes to her and says, “Mama, my party dress is all wrinkled.” Helga says, “I’ll iron it.” As she is taking a roast out of the oven, her son says, “Mom, can you tie this package for me?” Helga is interrupted by her son asking if ‘Lucky Eddie,’ his friend, can stay for dinner? With a smile, she says “Yes.” Now she is decorating a cake, and in the last scene all are seated around the table. Hagar shouts out “Surprise” to Helga, and the cry is repeated by her son…
