I WILL HOLD YOU CLOSE
I heard this story when I was attending a Pastor’s conference in Missouri a number of years ago. It was told by one of the other pastors as a true story. It was in one of the Nazi death camps, where the Jews were being exterminated. This particular camp was a work camp — and as long as a person could work they were allowed to stay out of the gas ovens. In the family of Solomon Rosenberg, the first to go were his aged parents — who were well into their 80’s and very soon broke under the inhuman conditions of long hours, lack of decent food and miserable hygenic conditions. Solomon knew that the next to go in his family would probably be their youngest son David, who was slightly crippled and was able now to work less and less. Each morning as the family was separated for their work assignments and then returned to huddle together…
