Although the precise length of Jesus’ final journey to the Cross, is not known, it likely can be compared to the ground covered by those of you who walked to Church today. Yet, no other journey in all history has so influenced so many down the long corridor of the Ages.

Understood in its truest sense, the journey is still in progress. The true significance of the road to Calvary — which might well have been measured in paces — is that it completely encircles our precious planet. It is an endless road, winding through every nook and corner of the house God built for His human family:

When we regard the Way of the Cross in this light, we begin to appreciate Jesus’ plaintiff cry to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane: “My soul is sorrowful to the point of death” (Mt. 26:37).
