A certain pastor told of a woman in his congregation who was struggling to work through a devastating loss. Her beloved husband, an electrician, accidentally brushed up against a hot wire and was electrocuted. The sudden tragedy had put her in a state of utter helplessness. Finally, on a Sunday morning, she spoke to the pastor on her way into Church. “I don’t know how I’m going to make it alone without my husband,” she said. “I’m twenty-six-years-old and have three pre-school children to raise, and I was so dependent on that wonderful man.” Then she paused and said, “I know one thing. I’ve got a choice to make. I can either stay bitter or I can get better. And I’ve come to Church because I want to get better.”
She had made a personal faith decision: to get better. And she had sought out the place where God’s healing touch is revealed and celebrated: her Church!
We gather together now as a Church congregation…
