In a parish raffle to end all parish raffles, the first prize was a Rolls Royce, second prize a Mercedes, third prize a Jaguar, and fourth prize a Lincoln Continental. After the raffle had ended, a parishioner asked the pastor about the results:
“Who won the Rolls Royce?”
“The Bishop. Wasn’t he lucky?”
“Who won the Mercedes?”
“The Monsignor. Wasn’t he lucky?”
“Who won the Jaguar?”
“My Assistant Pastor. Wasn’t he lucky?”
“Who won the Lincoln Continental?”
“The Parish Deacon. Wasn’t he lucky?”
“By the way, how many raffle tickets did you buy?” asked the pastor.
“I didn’t buy any,” said the parishioner, “wasn’t I lucky?”
