In one of the comic strips about a young man named “Kudzu,” a preacher is greeting members of his congregation as they file out of Church …

Kudzu is finding it hard to suppress a yawn as he says to the preacher, “See you next Sunday.” Then a woman, obviously displeased, steps up and says, “Preacher, as a member of the Worship Committee I must tell you I was hoping you would follow through with your promise to excite the congregation with your sermon.” To which the clergyman replies, “Yes, I did tell the committee that I would excite the congregation with this morning’s message — but I never promised to raise them from the dead!”

Jesus is telling us that, by means of the Resurrection Power of God, He is ready, willing and able to do both. In John’ s Gospel we hear His words,

“I am the Resurrection.
If anyone believes in Me, even though he dies he will live,
