On his way home from the office, a man enters a flower shop and orders two dozen pink carnations …
“They’re for my wife,” he tolls the clerk.
“Is it her birthday?” the clerk asks.
“No,” he replies.
“Is it your wedding anniversary?”
“No.”
As the man, bouquet in hand, starts out the door, the clerk calls after him, “I hope she forgives you!”
In today’s Gospel Lesson, the Apostle Peter asks Jesus, “Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?” Jesus answers, “Not seven, I tell you, but seventy seven times” (Mt. 18:21-22).
A mature Christian Faith means more than accepting the reality of a higher order of Being. To say “I believe in God” in a mature Christian way means to say “I trust God and I will live according to His Rule. God’s Will be done! God’s Will, as revealed to me by the Lord Jesus, be done!”…
