What Do We Know?

Among the works of the great artist, Raphael, is a beautiful painting of the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Because of the warm feeling the painting evokes, one can look at it and suddenly realize, as never before, that the great God Almighty who created us in Love, chose to come to us and be among us, in a family setting. Of course for us, the greatest possible family is one that includes God, at the head of the table.

In the midst of a large family reunion, one member, who was obviously heartened by the warm feeling the event evoked, earnestly expressed his desire to “live each day as though it were his last.” When it was the family patriarch’s turn to speak, he said to the others, “I think it’s a fine idea to live each day like it was your last. But I’ve always tried to live it a little different. I see it like this:
