A newspaper comic strip ran an episode on the theme of the Ten Commandments. It shows an elderly woman sitting up in bed in communication with her dead husband’s spirit. Apparently she is resentful of something her oldest son had said or done. She says, “I want to ask a favor of you up there. The Fourth Commandment, ‘Honor Your Father and Your Mother,’ is fine but it needs to be more specific. Ask the authorities please to add Commandments 4A, 4B, and 4C.” We don’t have time here to go into all the details of the old woman’s request, but I can tell you that if your mother should happen to call you at the office, “4C” is “Thou shalt not put thy mother on ‘hold’.”
