Prayer

There is a wonderful story about a bishop and a young clergyman who were travelling together. One bitterly cold night they stayed in a farmhouse in which the bedrooms were unheated. The old bishop undressed quickly, hopped right into bed and pulled the covers up over him. The young clergyman knelt beside the bed and very piously bowed his head for a long period of prayer. When he finally hopped into bed, shivering and blue with cold, he couldn’t help asking the bishop if he had noticed any difference in how each had prepared for their night’s sleep. The old bishop answered, “Young man, I want you to know that I keep prayed up for just such emergencies as this.”
”Pray in the spirit at all times…” (Eph. 6:18).
