“Would Jesus wear a Rolex on His Television Show?” That is the title of a song that appeared on the country music scene several years ago. An enterprising journalist put that question to several of the best-known TV Evangelists. One responded by saying that he did not subscribe to the “theology of prosperity” being broadcast by the “Health and Wealth” preachers, as he described them. “God is not a holy slot machine,” he said. “I wear an inexpensive watch. I think Jesus would too.” Another famous TV preacher said: “Jesus was not afraid to wear nice things. To maximize His ministry He would need television.
