A pastor went to the hospital to visit one of his parishioners — a very sick old woman. He found her lying in her hospital bed, gasping for breath. “Would you like me to pray?” he asked. “I want you to pray that I will be made well, that God will give me health,” the old woman replied. The pastor gulped. Clearly, this woman was not going to recover. She was dying. Again, he gulped. But he prayed, saying something like, “God, if it be Your Will, restore this daughter of yours to health.
