ONLY WAY OUT IS UP
I have a farmer friend who fell into an old well about a year ago. The well was thirty feet deep, slippery and steep. When he realized what a dangerous spot he was in, he was first paralyzed with fear. He yelled for an hour. Then he began to get chilly and numb. For the first time since he had fallen into that well, he looked above him and saw a circle of light. Above the light was shining a star. That was the first time he had ever seen a star in the day time, but the depth and the darkness of the well make it possible to see that star. He told me that when he saw the circle of light and the star, he said to himself, “Well, there is only one way to go, and that is toward that star and circle of light. That means up!” So laboriously, for five hours, he dug steps…
