RELATIVES ARE MULES
A husband and wife, on an automobile trip, got into a large- sized fuss over a small-sized issue, and for a number of miles afterward, they refused to speak to one another. This strained silence continued until they drove by a pasture where a couple of mules stood grazing. The man broke the silence: “Are those some relatives of yours?” His wife answered, “Yes, they are relatives of mine — on my husband’s side of the family.” Adapted from What about Tomorrow? by J.
