A STRONGER DEFENSE
Robert Watson-Watt discovered a method of sending out electromagnetic energy to be directed at incoming enemy aircraft. The British Government wanted him to develop some kind of death-ray, but he finally convinced them of a much more practical use: detection & tracking by interpreting the return signal. It was the original radar. It was the crucial element in the German’s defeat in the Battle of Britain in World War II.
