DON’T KICK THE ROCK
Gregory Elder tells that when he grew up on the Atlantic Coast, he spent long hours building intricate sand castles. He was continually confronted by bullies who would smash his sand creations. On one particular occasion, young Gregory placed cinder blocks and chunks of concrete inside the base of his sand castles. He then built the castles atop the base of cinder blocks and chunks of concrete. As the bullies approached, Gregory left. When the boys began their demolition of the sand castles, their feet met their match. The point is made that the church is in danger from secularism, politics, heresies, and plain old sin. We must not forget that the Rock is Jesus Christ (Matthew 16:16). From this Rock, the gates of hell are more defenseless than the bruised and bloody feet of these bullies.
