BULL & LION
I was trying to find information on hunting in the Old Testament days, and it was right there in the International Standard Bible Dictionary. Amenhotep III (1400 BC) of Egypt boasted killing seventy-six bulls in the course of one expedition. (a lot of bull!), but you know hunters! On the other hand, Tiglath-Pileser I (1100BC) of the Assyrian conqueror claims he killed only four wild bulls as trophies of skill and courage, but he also killed fourteen elephants and nine hundred and twenty lions. The conclusion that I drew was that there was not quite as much “bull” in Assyria as in Egypt, but there sure was a whole lot more “lion” no matter how you spell it!
