FREE AS A KITE
A number of years ago a kite that was out of control ignited the Santa Ynez Mountains during one summer and the flames destroyed 234 luxury homes in Santa Barbara and damaged others with a property loss of over 23 million dollars. The kite became entangled in the high power lines, causing them to short out with sparks falling on the dry tinder grass. The kite became entangled, experts suggest, because it lacked a tail as ballast. Sunshine Magazine commented that the kite, flying in the wind, has a great lesson for each of us. Often we resent the cares and problems that hold us down. We want to be as free as a kite, but the kite that is entirely free will crash.”
