THAT LITTLE PRAYER
It was a great big card written in a small child’s printing — you know, that first-grade block printing. On the front of the card was a little boy who had on dirty sneakers. They were untied, naturally. His cap was twisted to one side, his jeans were torn, and he was obviously soiled and sweaty from playing hard. He was holding onto the handle of a little wagon. Toys were everywhere. He had a Band-Aid stuck on his arm, and there were smudges all over the card. We’re talking typical six-year-old! On the front of the card it read: MOM, I REMEMBER THAT LITTLE PRAYER YOU USED TO SAY FOR ME EVERY DAY. Then inside: GOD HELP YOU IF YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN! From Growing Wise in Family Life, by Charles Swindoll, pg. 79
