In his book Exodus to Hidden Valley, Eugene Morse, as part of a family of missionaries, tells the story of how their family was expelled from the mission station they had started by the Communist Burmese government. Here they had planted lovely fruit-bearing orchards and verdant fields of grain. The Morse families decided that instead of leaving by way of the train or airplane, where they were certain to be hassled by government officials, they would leave secretly by night and head up the mountain to some of the remote unpopulated hidden valleys. These would be close to the border of India, where they hoped to cross. However, the Morse families were surprised to find that thousands of native Christians chose to evacuate with them.
