FALSELY ACCUSED
Actor Don Knotts, of “The Apple Dumpling Gang” is notorious for playing the bumbling, not too bright characters. And these comical portrayals of his endear him to us. One of his early movies was entitled “How To Frame A Figg.” Don Knotts played a character named Hollis Figg. Figg, along with several others, worked for the city in the accounting department. But automation was taking over. Most of these positions were to be taken over by a computer, a huge pre-historic beast which filled up the entire room, and even at that, was incredibly primitive. But there was more, as with Don Knotts, there usually is. All of the high ranking city officials from the mayor on down to the police and fire commissioners were corrupt. They were embezzling money from civic coffers. In an effort to protect their own dishonest gain they needed someone in the accounting department who was not too bright, someone who would not notice the corruption going…
