BUSIER THAN ISAIAH
One minister remarked sorrowfully: “The prophet Isaiah wrote, ‘In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord.’ If he were a modern minister, he would write, ‘In the year that Uzziah died I made a thousand pastoral calls, dictated two thousand letters, and held five thousand telephone conversations. I reviewed a book a week, pronounced sixty- three invocations at public functions, put my name on twenty- five committee letterheads, served as chairman of the Community Chest, and didn’t have time to say my prayers.'”
