PUT THE WALNUT IN FIRST
I once read a story about a small jar filled with tiny grains of rice and one large walnut in their midst. If you emptied the jar and put the rice in first and then tried to add the walnut, it was impossible to get it back in. But if you put the walnut into the jar first and then poured the tiny grains of rice around it, everything fit just fine. The point of the story was that if you spend too much time continually worrying about the little grains of time that make up everyday life, and then as an afterthought try to fit God into the midst of it, it just won’t work. And maybe you’ll even give up trying. But if you put God in your life first and then add the little odds and ends of daily life, everything will fit just right. By Bernadette McCarver Snyder
