PAUL AND SILAS
Paul Hacket is an African-American pastor in Southern California who has a unique way in which to tell the story of Paul and Silas. This is the way he tells the story in his own style: The preachers are in prison. It is cold and midnight dark. Across the floor of the cell you can hear the sound of rats’ feet. A shiver runs down and through his body as Paul says to Silas, “Silas.” Silas says, “Yeah, man.” “Silas, how are you doing brother?” “I’m doing just fine. How are you?” “Silas, I believe I feel a Hallelujah coming on.” “Brother, you lead out and I’ll join in.” And so Paul starts to sing and Silas joins in. Pastor Hacket then tells how the songs of these two missionaries rise up through the bars of that jail and begin to rise up over the city of Philippi.
