STONEWALL JACKSON
During the Battle of Bull Run things looked lost for the South as the Confederates were in retreat. However, at Henry House Hill a group of Virginians held formation. General Barnard Bee saw them and shouted, “Look! There is Jackson standing like a stone wall! Rally behind the Virginians.” General Thomas J. Jackson was forever after known as “Stonewall” Jackson. After the Southerners amassed around him, he led a counterattack. Paul calls for “Stonewall” Christians who are willing to stand fast in the midst of opposition. Commenting on Philippians 1:27 – 28
