THE MINISTRY OF LEECHES
An October ’87 edition of “Weekly Reader” magazine published an interesting article of how LEECHES actually saved a young boy’s finger! Donnell McLucas accidentally turned over a grocery cart, which cut off the tip of one of his fingers. The doctor sewed Donnell’s fingertip back on. He repaired the broken bone, carefully put the torn blood vessels and nerves back together and sewed up the skin. However, the finger did not turn pink like a healthy finger. It turned purple. The blood didn’t flow into the finger and then back to the heart. The blood flowed to the tip of the finger and stopped. There was no circulation. Then a doctor put leeches to work. They were allowed to attach themselves to the end of the young boy’s finger and they began sucking out blood. Soon the finger turned a healthy pink, as circulation began. Every day the leeches were attached to the young boy’s finger, to keep the blood…
